QQI Level-6 Manual Handling Instruction (6S0242)

Health and Safety Authority (HSA) regulations require that all manual handling instructors are certified. The purpose of this course is to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and competencies to deliver manual handling training. Learners will examine the theoretical and practical aspects of manual handling, risk assessment and the key training tools and skills required to effectively deliver manual handling courses.

The course focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of manual handling, risk assessment and the key training tools and skills required to effectively deliver manual handling courses.

Assessments

As part of this course, learners must complete and pass all the following course assessments:

  • Assignment: 20%
  • Examination (theory based): 20%
  • Skills Demonstration: 60% 

Prerequisites

  • Manual Handling Instruction course is delivered and assessed in English. Competence in written and spoken English is essential. If you are unsure about your level of language proficiency, we can provide an English language assessment for your convenience.

Similar courses

The course is suitable for those with a responsibility for the installation, operation and maintenance of abrasive wheels in accordance with the relevant regulations. The course is highly participative with emphasis on the practical element of the training. Note: This course is specific to tools associated with abrasive wheels and not the safe use of power tools in general.

Current health and safety legislation requires that all employees engaged in manual handling activities must be given training in safe lifting techniques. The term manual handling is used to describe a range of activities including lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving an object. The course provides participants with the knowledge and skill to conduct manual handling activities in a manner that will prevent injury. All Trainers are QQI certified as required by the Health & Safety Authority (HSA).
